Each season the fashion industry offers us a plethora of trends—so many that it’s hard to know which to choose— and this year is no different. To help with the ovewhelm, I’ve selected a few that I believe have the most impact in terms of refreshing your wardrobe while at the same time being wearable for more than just one season and in more than one way.

Add an updated accessory
If you prefer a minimalist aesthetic and don’t want to buy more/new clothing, then add a few trendy accessories into the mix. An updated handbag (in a trending jewel tone, updated shape or in leopard print) or a new silhouette for your sunglasses are easy ways to update your daily outfits. Sculptural earrings, bangle bracelets and pendants feel right for the layered outfits of fall.
Topcoats for the win
Regardless of your personal style profile, remember that outerwear often becomes the focal point of your outfits as the weather turns colder. An updated everyday jacket—barn jackets are really having a moment!—or an updated going out jacket/coat will make whatever you’re wearing underneath look modernized and refreshed. Each year it seems that Animal Print (especially leopard print) is labeled as a Fall trend. In my opinion, it’s a classic. The same goes for checks—they’re trending this year: Ok, whatever you say fashion journalists!
